The best place to find the status of any
legislation is via the Library of
Congress Thomas Website. Simply enter in the bill number and you will
be given the bill status and text of the bill.
Please note that at any given time,
nearly 1/3 of all legislation introduced into the House of Representatives
is referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce. It is not
uncommon for a bill to be referred to the Committee and have no official
action taken upon it. For example, more than 50 bills were
introduced in the 107th Congress relating to prescription drugs, yet the
Committee took official action on only one, The
Medicare Modernization and Prescription Drug Act of 2002 (H.R.
4954).
You may want to visit the Committee's Issue
Area, to look see what action has been taken by the Committee in the area
related to the bill you are interest in.
Finally, you should visit the Committee's
Schedule, and consider subscribing to our Schedule Update email
list.
