Greenwood Seeks Clinical Trial Data on Antidepressants


WASHINGTON (February 3) - As part of its ongoing investigation into the safety of prescription drugs, Rep. James Greenwood (R-PA), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, sent letters to four drug manufacturers seeking data and background information on unpublished clinical trials involving depressed children.

Identical letters were sent February 3 to:

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals President Bernard Poussot, 

Eli Lilly & Company Chairman Sidney Taurel;

GlaxoSmithKline President Christopher Viehbacher; and,

Pfizer Chairman and CEO Dr. Hank McKinnell, Ph.D.)
