Attached photographs to the March 30, 2006, letter to HHS Secretary Leavitt from Representatives John D. Dingell, Henry A. Waxman, Bart Stupak, and Edward J. Markey

The photos were taken in mid-March 2006. One of the photos shows a single package of meat. It was purchased in mid-October 2005 and has been stored in the refrigerator since that time. The other photo shows two packages of meat. One was stored under carbon monoxide, and the other under high oxygen MAP conditions. The two packages were purchased the same day and allowed to stand at room temperature for 27 hours. The CO meat remained bright red in color.
