The Committee on Energy and Commerce met in open markup session and took the following actions:

H.R. 1343, the “Health Centers Renewal Act of 2008”, as amended by the Subcommittee on Health, was ordered favorably reported, amended, by a voice vote.

The following amendment was offered:

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Mr. Green, #1, was adopted by a voice vote.

A request by Mr. Green that, on page 4, line 13 of the Green substitute amendment # 1, the words “In the State involved” be inserted at the beginning of the sentence, with appropriate conforming changes, was agreed to by unanimous consent. 

H.R. 5669, the “Poison Center Support, Enhancement, and Awareness Act of 2008”, was ordered favorably reported by a voice vote.

            No amendments were offered. 

H.R. 1553, the “Deborah Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2008”, as amended by the Subcommittee on Health, was ordered favorably reported, amended, by a voice vote.

The following amendment was offered:

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Ms. Solis, #1, was adopted by a voice vote.

A motion by Mr. Whitfield that, for purposes of going to conference on H.R. 4040, the Chairman of the Committee be directed to offer a motion under clause 1 of Rule XXII of the rules of the House whenever he considers it appropriate, was agreed to by unanimous consent.
