Committee Organizational Meeting for the 109th Congress

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Hall regarding the committee rules for the 109th Congress was adopted by a voice vote.

The following amendment was offered:

An amendment offered by Mr. Waxman on behalf of Mr. Dingell, regarding addition of a committee rule pertaining to the investigation of unethical or unlawful conduct of an agency official under the jurisdiction of the committee, was not adopted by a yea-nay vote: 17-27.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Pickering regarding the number and jurisdiction of standing subcommittees was adopted by a voice vote.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Upton regarding the number of Members of each of the standing subcommittees was adopted by a voice vote.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Stearns regarding the subcommittee chairmen and vice chairmen was adopted by a voice vote.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Waxman on behalf of Mr. Dingell regarding the ranking Democratic members of each of the standing subcommittees was adopted by a voice vote.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Gillmor regarding the Republican membership of each of the standing subcommittees was adopted by a voice vote.

Committee Resolution offered by Mr. Waxman on behalf of Mr. Dingell regarding the Democratic membership of each of the standing subcommittees was adopted by a voice vote.

A unanimous consent request by Chairman Barton that Mr. Bilirakis and Mr. Pickering be appointed Vice Chairmen of the full committee was adopted without objection.

A unanimous consent request regarding opening statements for the anticipated full committee hearing the week of February 7, 2005, was adopted without objection.
