FULL COMMITTEE ACTION

H.R. 2985: American Spirit Fraud Prevention Act of 2001, was ORDERED REPORTED by a voice vote.

H.R. 2887: Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act, was ORDERED REPORTED, AMENDED, by a yea-nay vote: 41 - 6.

The following amendments were offered:

An amendment in the nature of a substitute by Mr. Bilirakis, #1, was adopted by a voice vote;

A substitute amendment by Messrs. Brown and Waxman for the amendment in the nature of a substitute, #1A, was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 12 - 36;

A unanimous consent request by Mr. Waxman that the Brown-Waxman substitute be amended to include all amendments to the bill that was reported by the Subcommittee that were incorporated into the Bilirakis amendment in the nature of a substitute.  No objection was heard.

An amendment to the amendment in the nature of a substitute by Mr. Waxman, #1B, re: reduction in period of market exclusivity; use of resulting budget authority for NIH grants regarding life-threatening and other serious childhood conditions, was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 13 - 33;

An amendment to the amendment in the nature of a substitute by Mr. Stupak, #1C, re: pediatric labeling, was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 17 - 27.
