The focus of this hearing is on the implementation of the health care law's exchanges and Medicaid expansion. With less than 13 months until implementation, the committee intends to press the administration to finally respond to the numerous critical questions that remain unanswered nearly 1,000 days since enactment of the health care law.
This hearing continues the subcommittees oversight over implementation of spectrum auctions, which will help meet soaring demand for wireless broadband services and fund a nationwide public safety network.
Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) said, “Spectrum is essential to jobs, technology, and the economy. The demand for spectrum, however, is quickly outpacing the usable supply.
Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Power, has scheduled a third, bipartisan Clean Air Act forum for Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The third forum continues the theme of the first two events: “State, Local, and Federal Cooperation in the Clean Air Act.”
Each year, the Medicare program loses tens of billions of dollars to fraud and abuse. With estimates predicting the Medicare program set to go bankrupt as soon as 2017, much more needs to be done to ensure that our seniors’ health care dollars are protected.
