On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 3 PM , the committee will host thought leaders in the first public discussion regarding the state of biomedical innovation in the United States and what else can be done to accelerate the process of bringing new treatments and cures to patients. Participants will include:
“Next week we will continue our efforts to modernize government for the innovation era as we consider a package of bills to address emerging challenges and opportunities,” said committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI).
“Advances in technology present tremendous opportunities to improve the access to and quality of health care in areas all across the country,” said Pitts. “How can technology help patients, particularly in rural communities, gain access to doctors or specialists?
The hearing will review the NRC’s budget request and the range of issues confronting the agency. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Allison Macfarlane will testify alongside NRC Commissioners Kristine Svinicki, George Apostolakis, William Magwood, and William Ostendorff.
