In 2009, President Obama insisted the individual mandate was not a tax. As ABC News pointed out, the only reason the law stands today is because “Congress has the authority to tax-something Obama maintained it wasn’t trying to do.”

Not only does the Supreme Court’s ruling conflict with the president’s intent, it highlights yet another one of the president’s broken promises that he would not raise taxes in “any form” on families making less than $250,000 per year.
