NEWS: Committee’s Oversight Reveals Administration Was Warned of Health Law’s Woes, Implementation Still Far From Complete
The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) on Tuesday held a hearing with the Obama administration’s HealthCare.gov project manager, Henry Chao. Among the revelations form the hearing, the committee’s investigation uncovered a report prepared by McKinsey & Co. in March 2013 at the request of CMS, yet Chao testified that he had never seen the report despite his leadership role. The report highlights serious concerns about getting to the October 1 launch date. Chao’s testimony that nearly 40 percent of the Federally Facilitated Marketplace has yet to be built also increased concerns about the future of the law’s implementation as well as the administration’s ability to complete end to end testing. Chao testified that the Security Control Assessment would be completed in December. If Chao’s expectation is realized, HealthCare.gov would have been open for business for 12 weeks without being fully tested for security. The committee’s oversight continues.
