The Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment held a hearing titled, ‘Energy Efficiency: Complementary Polices for Climate Legislation’ at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, in 2322 Rayburn House Office Building. As Congress crafts comprehensive climate and energy legislation, it is critical to understand the vital role of energy efficiency in achieving climate change and energy policy objectives. This hearing explored energy efficiency policies, such as building and appliance standards and an energy efficiency resource standard, that could be incorporated into climate and energy legislation. ‘Energy efficiency is key to any effort to combat global warming,’ said Chairman Markey. ‘Tomorrow‘s witnesses are experts from the public and private sectors on achieving greater energy efficiency. This hearing will shape the efficiency measures included in our bold new national energy policy.’ The following witnesses were invited to testify:
