The Subcommittee on Health held a hearing entitled “NIH in the 21st Century:  The Director's Perspective” on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, in room 2322 Rayburn House Office Building.  The hearing examined the National Institutes of Health’s research activities and priorities.

The Subcommittee on Health held a hearing entitled “Promoting the Development of Antibiotics and Ensuring Judicious Use in Humans” on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building.  The hearing examined how we can best safeguard the effectiveness of antibiotics once they are on the market.  It also explored various ways to ensure adequate development of new, safe, and effective antibiotics.  The subcommittee expects to hold a subsequent hearing on the use of antibiotics in animals.

The Subcommittee on Health held a hearing entitled "Prematurity and Infant Mortality:  What Happens When Babies are Born Too Early?" on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.  The hearing examined the causes and consequences of preterm births and infant mortality.

The Subcommittee on Health held a legislative hearing on H.R. 4700, the Transparency in All Health Care Pricing Act of 2010; H.R. 2249, the Health Care Price Transparency Promotion Act of 2009; and H.R. 4803, the Patients' Right to Know Act on Thursday, May 6, 2010, in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building.
