WASHINGTON, DC – The Energy and Commerce Committee started the week strong, clearing 10 committee bills through the House that will boost our nation’s energy infrastructure and improve energy efficiency. On Tuesday, #SubDCCP hosted a bipartisan #IoTShowcase with 21 businesses from across the country and later that morning, held a hearing to continue exploring how this innovation is changing the landscape for consumers and businesses. In the remainder of the week, #SubCommTech members examined cybersecurity risks to wireless technology, and the committee held a #SubEnvironment markup where members advanced three bills aiming to modernize the nation’s environmental laws.

On Tuesday, #SubCommTech kicked off the week with a hearing examining cybersecurity risks to wireless networks and mobile devices.   

During Tuesday’s #IoTShowcase, #SubDCCP Chairman Bob Latta (R-OH) stops to discuss how IoT is being used by businesses to create, innovate and connect.

Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) strolls through the #IoTShowcase to speak with business participants about how their technology is revolutionizing industries.

Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA) visits with representatives from Integra Devices – a business from her district that is transforming manufacturing technology.

Full Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) learning about the benefits – including greater efficiency and convenience – that consumers can now experience because of internet-connected devices.

Following the #IoTShowcase, representatives from six businesses served as witnesses to discuss the opportunities and challenges of IoT.

Thursday morning, #SubEnvironment Chairman John Shimkus (R-IL) led a markup to advance three bills to the full committee that will modernize the nation’s environment laws and energy infrastructure.
