Health Subcommittee Vice Chairman Reviews
Administration Report on Millions of Obamacare “Inconsistencies”
Vice Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Health and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittees Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) today joined Fox News’ America’s Newsroom to discuss two new reports from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General detailing concerns surrounding eligibility verification for individuals purchasing health care plans through the exchanges. HHS OIG found 2.9 million inconsistencies through February 2014, 2.6 million of which had not yet been addressed at that time. Documents released by the Energy and Commerce Committee found that through May 27, 2014, the figure had jumped to at least 4 million.
These HHS watchdog reports underscore the very serious challenges still facing the health care law. As Burgess notes, “The president came out right before Easter weekend and said ‘mission accomplished. I signed up 8 million people.’ Well it turns out, not quite Mr. President.”
