Energy and Commerce Listens to Governors' Ideas on Medicaid and State Health Reform
WASHINGTON, DC - The House Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today heard from Govs. Haley Barbour (R-MS), Gary Herbert (R-UT), and Deval Patrick (D-MA) as they discussed the impact of the new health care law on Medicaid and state budgets and proposed ideas to allow flexibility for states. Prior to the hearing, the Energy and Commerce Committee and Senate Finance Committee released a report outlining that the law's massive Medicaid expansion will cost states at least $118 billion.
