Upton: “Like clockwork, another day, another delay.”
WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) issued the following statement regarding the administration’s delay to the health law’s open enrollment period:
"Like clockwork, another day, another delay.
"Now four years removed from when the law was signed, and just days from the end of open enrollment, the administration still does not have its act together.
"In December, Secretary Sebelius declared the delays were over, but they continued at a furious pace. Two weeks ago an HHS official insisted that the administration did not have ‘statutory authority’ to extend the enrollment period for this year, yet here we are.
"Sadly, the administration has wreaked havoc on the peace of mind for many Americans who are now confronted with plan cancellations, skyrocketing premiums, and lost access to a trusted doctor. It is time for fairness for all - all that's left is to delay the individual mandate."
