STATEMENT OF CONGRESSMAN JOHN D. DINGELL SATELLITE-NETWORK AGREEMENT March 12, 1999 I've always believed that private disputes are best settled by the parties involved, and I commend the broadcasting and satellite industries for heeding the concerns expressed by Members of Congress and reaching a settlement that is fair to millions of American consumers who have been the unwitting victims of an inter-industry battle. Although some customers who illegally receive out of market signals ultimately will have their service turned off, this agreement will help ensure that people who truly cannot receive an adequate picture over the air will be able to retain their service. I encourage both parties to continue to act in good faith to put this agreement into practice in a fair and reasonable fashion.
