ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE DEMOCRATS
Congressman John D. Dingell, Ranking Member
For Immediate Release
February 7, 2001 |

Statement of Congressman John D. Dingell on the Presidents Principles for a
Patients Bill of Rights
"I am pleased the President supports many of the same principles outlined in the
Bipartisan Patient Protection Act and commend him for bringing his ideas to the table.
However, the principals raise a number of questions which must addressed. I am willing to
work with the President in a bipartisan manner to get an effective and enforceable
Patients Bill of Rights passed by both houses of Congress, one that fully protects
patients and the doctor-patient relationship."
