WASHINGTON, DC – Today marks 15 years since the federal government has defaulted on its legal responsibility to store our nation’s nuclear waste. According to the law, the Department of Energy was supposed to begin accepting nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain by January 31, 1998.

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), will launch its “American Energy Security and Innovation” hearing series next Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
In today’s Washington Times, Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) calls on President Obama to stop the delays and approve the Keystone XL pipeline. Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman approved the Nebraska reroute last week, paving the way for the president’s final approval.

White House urges patience on Keystone
President Obama rejected the Keystone XL oil pipeline this time last year, a result that Canada had every reason to be dismayed by, as did Americans whom the project would have employed. The issue is coming back, and the president has even less reason to nix the project than he did last time.
