Letter to CMS Regarding Proposed Changes to Medicare Part D
Excerpt: On February 26, 2014, CMS Principal Deputy Administrator Jonathan Blum testified before the Committee that he was not aware that the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services (OIG) and others had publicly stated that CMS does not have the legal authority to interfere in the negotiations between drug plans and pharmacies. As members who served in Congress when Part D was created, we can assure you it was the intent of Congress to ensure that your agency did not interfere in these negotiations.
