Upton Statement On Administration Delay of 2015 Open Enrollment
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DELAY
WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) issued the following statement regarding the administration’s delay of the 2015 open enrollment period:
"Another day, another delay, which begs the question, does the president think enrollment will be just as bad next year? It’s stunning to see the president so willing to delay next year’s open enrollment period rather than focus on the ongoing chaos and uncertainty that is plaguing implementation today. No part of the health care law was ready for prime time, but the administration turned a blind eye to reality and was full throttle to October 1. Sadly, millions of Americans have been left with cancellation notices, a broken website, and premium rate shock, but the administration has offered little more than some hollow statements and condolences to Democrats in Congress who are worried about how this law might impact their careers. How can the administration defend delaying next year’s open enrollment after months of refusing to admit that the law was not ready for prime time this year?"
