E&C Announces Full Committee Markup

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the full Committee will hold a markup on Wednesday, September 21, at 10:15 a.m. (EDT) in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

“The Energy and Commerce Committee has had a very productive Congressional session making health care and prescription drugs more affordable, strengthening our economy, tackling the climate crisis, and protecting consumers,” Pallone said. “This week, the full Committee will continue that important work as we consider legislation to improve our health care delivery systems, advance access to care, protect the health and well-being of our nation, bolster our travel and tourism industry, and protect animals from inhumane practices. The markup will also include 18 resolutions of inquiry from Republicans.”  

The full Committee will consider the following bills:

H.R. 3655, the “Vaccine Injury Compensation Modernization Act of 2021,” which was introduced by Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and Fred Upton (R-MI);

H.R. 5141, the “Maximizing Outcomes through Better Investments in Lifesaving Equipment (MOBILE) for Health Care Act,” which was introduced by Reps. Susie Lee (D-NV), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Raul Ruiz (D-CA), and Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA);

H.R. 8163, the “Improving Trauma Systems and Emergency Care Act,” which was introduced by Rep. Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ); 

H.R. 6737, the “Flint Registry Reauthorization Act,” which was introduced by Rep. Daniel Kildee (D-MI) and 13 other original cosponsors;

H.R. 6965, the “Visit America Act,” which was introduced by Reps. Dina Titus (D-NV), Ed Case (D-HI), and Don Young (R-AK); and

H.R. 5441, the “Prevent All Soring Tactics Act of 2021” or the “PAST Act,” which was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and 212 other original bipartisan cosponsors.

This will be a hybrid markup that includes both in person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the markup via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the markup begins.

The Committee strongly recommends that members of the media view the proceedings remotely. The Capitol and House Office Buildings currently have restricted access. Seating in the Committee room for credentialed media is very limited. Media must RSVP to their respective press gallery no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20.
