Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on FDA Foreign Drug Inspections
Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced today that the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, December 10, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Hearing Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled “Securing the U.S. Drug Supply Chain: Oversight of FDA’s Foreign Inspection Program.”
“Over a decade ago, the Energy and Commerce Committee exposed vulnerabilities in the Food and Drug Administration’s foreign drug inspection program that led to stronger inspection authorities from Congress,” Pallone and DeGette said. “Recent recalls and troubling news reports raise fresh concerns that FDA has still not resolved some of these issues, which could undermine the safety of some drugs. Next week, we will press FDA on its efforts to address longstanding foreign inspection challenges and its ability to ensure the safety of the United States’ drug supply.”
Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
