Pallone Announces First Three Energy and Commerce Hearings
Today, at a passing of the gavel celebration on Capitol Hill, Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced the first three hearings the Committee will hold later this month after it has officially organized for the 116th Congress:
Hearing 1: Assessing the environmental and economic impacts of climate change. There is no more pressing issue for our economy, our communities and our planet than climate change, and this is the first of many hearings the Committee will hold on this growing crisis.
Hearing 2: Examining the impacts of a U.S. District Judge’s decision in Texas last month to strike down the Affordable Care Act. This decision, if it is upheld, will endanger the lives of millions of Americans who could lose their health coverage. It would also allow insurance companies to once again discriminate against more than 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.
Hearing 3: Examining the failures of the Trump Administration’s Inhumane Family Separation Policy. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently completed an investigation requested by Pallone that outlined the tragic consequences of carrying out this cruel policy. Congress must hear from the Administration on this ongoing failure and how the Administration is keeping children under the care of the Department of Health and Human Services safe.
