Washington D.C. — Tonight, the House of Representatives passed two bills from the House Energy and Commerce Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee. These important pro-consumer bills enhance product packaging clarity and deliver much needed transparency to lodging prices. Upon House passage, Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statements:

H.R. 2964, the Wastewater Infrastructure Pollution Prevention and Environmental Safety (WIPPES) Act:

“This bipartisan legislation will create clear rules for wipe packaging to make sure Americans know when specific wipe products can or cannot be flushed, helping save people money by preventing the need for expensive repairs or replacements. I appreciate Reps. McClain and Peltola’s work to prevent unnecessary costs to Americans with simple updates to packaging standards.”

H.R. 6543, the No Hidden FEES Act of 2023:

“Price transparency is crucial for a competitive market, and travelers deserve to know the true price of their lodging upfront. I applaud Reps. Kim and Castor for their bipartisan legislation to create clear rules of the road and ensure people can make informed decisions about their travel plans as we head into peak travel and tourism season.”
