Chair Rodgers Statement on SCOTUS Preliminary Ruling in Abortion Pill Case
Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its preliminary ruling in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA:
“This ruling is disappointing. As the Courts review the merits of the case, it’s crucial that they keep in mind FDA’s primary responsibility—to ensure the safety of the American people and, in this particular instance, women and babies.
“I remain concerned by unrelenting efforts by this administration and Democrats in Congress to implement a radical agenda of abortion on demand, without exception, and now without any meaningful medical supervision.
“It is my sincere hope they will abandon these efforts to present abortion as a woman’s only option and in a way that encourages her to go through the trauma of ending a pregnancy alone. Let’s come together to uphold the human rights of the unborn and help women at every stage of life.”
