Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on U.S. special climate envoy John Kerry’s trip to China, which was reported to “yield no breakthroughs on climate.”

“Of course, special climate envoy John Kerry’s trip to China was a waste of time. China is one of the world’s largest polluters and maintains some of the worst environmental and labor standards. The Chinese Communist Party does not care about reducing emissions. All they want is for the U.S. to be dangerously dependent on them for our energy needs. Kerry’s trip to Beijing was just another attempt to surrender American values and interests and cede our energy future to the Chinese Communist Party. We cannot allow that to happen.”
