Chairs Rodgers and Griffith Announce Oversight Hearing on the Consequences of Biden’s Border Crisis
Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chair Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today announced a subcommittee hearing titled “A Threat to Every Community: Assessing the Safety, Health, and Economic Consequences of President Biden's Border Policies.”
“President Biden’s border crisis is stretching our communities and our limited resources to a breaking point. His inhumane immigration policies have led to an alarming surge in illegal border encounters, a flood of deadly fentanyl pouring across the border and claiming more innocent lives than ever, disruptions in supply chains, overcrowding of cities and towns, and the continued exploitation of unaccompanied migrant children,” said Chairs Rodgers and Griffith. “We remain gravely concerned from what we witnessed at our field hearing at the border last year in McAllen, Texas, and reports from our colleagues’ recent fact-finding mission confirm that the situation has significantly deteriorated since then. The need for swift and decisive action to secure the border and protect our communities is more urgent and evident than ever.”
