Chairs Rodgers, Griffith Announce Oversight Hearing on Prescription Drug Shortages

Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chair Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today announced a subcommittee hearing titled “Examining the Root Causes of Drug Shortages: Challenges in Pharmaceutical Drug Supply Chains.” 

Chairs Rodgers and Griffith released the following statement: 

“From over-the-counter children's cold and flu medicines, to specialized, live-saving drugs for cancer patients, Americans have faced disastrous drug shortages. While there may be unique circumstances that affect the availability of certain drugs, there are often common trends among drug shortages. This hearing will give our subcommittee a chance to examine the root causes of shortages, as well as supply chain vulnerabilities in our pharmaceutical industry.”
