Some of the faces behind the “Beyond the Diagnosis” traveling exhibit.

Over the summer, CBS Sunday Morning spotlighted a new groundbreaking art exhibit, “Beyond the Diagnosis," featuring portraits of children battling rare disease. Spearheaded by the Rare Disease United Foundation, the collection of portraits has an ambitious goal to feature artwork of a child battling every rare disease – all 7,000 of them.

One of the latest portraits to be completed is of our very own resident #CuresNow artist, Max Schill. Max, who has become famous for his artwork, is no stranger in Washington.

But beyond his artwork, Max will tell you his passion is finding a cure for Noonan syndrome, a rare genetic condition that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. Despite this condition and young age, Max has never let up in being one of the most energetic voices calling for #CuresNow.

Now, he is the latest face to be added to the traveling exhibit, raising awareness for rare diseases.

Max’s portrait was painted by Sara Breslin. Sara is from Rhode Island, and currently works as an art consultant at Sheldon Fine Art Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island.
