Democrats Would Rather Play Gotcha Politics Than Lower Drug Prices
WASHINGTON, DC – Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement after Democrats spiked an opportunity to lower drug prices by combining bipartisan bills to lower drug costs with partisan bills to bail out Obamacare:
"Instead of delivering a victory for the American people today – making prescription drugs more affordable – Democrats are back at it, playing gotcha politics. This has become the playbook for House Democrats: politics over people. It’s unfortunate. It’s unnecessary and I’m disappointed. We come to Washington to get results, that’s why Republicans offered an alternative that included the bipartisan drug pricing provisions while removing the partisan spending provisions. The Democrats’ bill is going nowhere in the Senate and won’t be signed by the President."
