E&C Leaders’ Statement on Passage of Bipartisan Lymphedema Treatment Act

Washington, D.C. — Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Health Subcommittee Republican Leader Brett Guthrie (R-KY) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3630, the Lymphedema Treatment Act:

“This legislation will ensure seniors living with lymphedema can access necessary products used to treat this condition through their Medicare coverage. We are hopeful that this legislation can help us move away from the rigid Medicare fee-for-service system, which puts patients in the position of having to lobby Congress and the administration for medical coverage. Instead, we should move towards a system that rewards better value for patients and providers and protects the Medicare program for generations to come. We are grateful to Rep. Carter and many of our Energy and Commerce members for their bipartisan leadership on this legislation.”

H.R. 3630 was reported out of the full committee unanimously on July 13.
