HEARING: McCarthy to Testify Before #SubEnergyPower and #SubEnvEcon on EPA Budget

Mar 15, 2016
Press Release

The Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), and the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy, chaired by Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), has scheduled a joint hearing for Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 2 p.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Fiscal Year 2017 EPA Budget.” EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy will be the sole witness and provide testimony on the budget.

Whitfield and Shimkus commented, “We look forward to a thoughtful dialogue with Administrator McCarthy next week on a wide range of issues, including bipartisan TSCA reform and H.R. 4470, the Safe Drinking Water Act Improved Compliance Awareness Act. But we also have serious concerns with the agency’s relentless regulatory pursuit. The EPA has gone out of its way to target American jobs and affordable energy and the consequences to family budgets, grid reliability, and the overall economy are real. At a time when we should be celebrating our newfound abundance, the EPA is working to disqualify our many resources from the energy equation. We remain focused and will continue to pursue policies that say yes to energy and yes to jobs.”

The Majority Memorandum, a witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
