WASHINGTON, DC – Further advancing the Energy and Commerce Committee’s #RecordOfSuccess, the House of Representatives voted to say #Yes2Energy and unanimously approved six committee energy bills. The bills underscore the committee’s ongoing commitment to advancing legislation to boost the economy and create jobs.

H.R. 1268, Energy Efficient Government Technology Act, sponsored by committee member Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA);

• Would require energy efficient and energy saving technologies in federal data centers, saving the taxpayers and federal government money while improving energy efficiency.

H.R. 2080, a bill to extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving Clark Canyon Dam;

H.R. 2984, the Fair RATES Act, sponsored by committee member Rep. Joseph Kennedy (D-MA);

• Would amend the Federal Power Act to provide opportunities for rehearing of orders affecting rates, even in instances where rates become effective by operation of law.

H.R. 4411, a bill to extend the deadline for commencement of construction of a hydroelectric project involving the Gathright Dam, sponsored by committee member Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA); and

H.R. 4412, a bill to extend the deadline for commencement of construction of hydroelectric project involving the Flannagan Dam, also sponsored by Rep. Griffith;

• Would extend the licenses for the Gathright and Flannagan Dams, creating jobs and providing affordable reliable electricity to the respective communities.

H.R. 4427, a bill to amend section 203 of the Federal Power Act, sponsored by committee member Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS);

• Would amend the Federal Power Act to expressly include a minimum monetary threshold of $10,000,000 for mergers and acquisitions of facilities subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) commented, “These bills will reduce regulatory burdens and protect ratepayers while creating job opportunities and utilizing American-made energy.”

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) commented, “This week, we look to continue our efforts to create jobs, say yes to energy, and protect small businesses from burdensome red tape.
