Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement renewing calls for permitting reform in order to unleash American innovation and chips.

“Securing a strong domestic semiconductor and microelectronics supply chain is key for America to lead the next era of innovation and beat China. As I said last year, as Congress considered the CHIPS Act, we cannot beat China by trying to outspend them on projects that are bogged down and delayed by America’s burdensome regulatory and permitting environment. The best way to ensure American technological leadership is by lifting these barriers, which will unleash innovation, secure our supply chains, and create jobs here at home. This should have been addressed before Congress spent tens of billions of dollars, but House Republicans will continue to lead on solutions that address permitting issues for every industry in our economy.”
