Upton Welcomes New Energy Efficiency Law
WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) today welcomed the president’s signature on S. 535, the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act.
"Efficiency is a win-win that saves money and energy. Breakthrough innovation not only helps increase energy production, it also helps reduce energy use. This bipartisan solution will allow us to harness new technologies to achieve important energy and cost savings. I applaud my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their hard work in getting this commonsense bill signed into law. My committee will continue its work to build upon this success and increase energy efficiency across the federal government and private sector," said House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI).
S. 535, the Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2015, includes language from a bill that was advanced by the Energy and Commerce Committee and approved by the full House last year. The legislative package includes a measure to ensure energy-saving grid-enabled water heaters can continue to be manufactured and sold, a solution to facilitate greater cooperation between landlords and tenants to lower energy consumption in commercial buildings, and improvements to the collection and use of data regarding energy usage in federally-leased buildings.
The Energy and Commerce Committee today continued its work to advance energy efficiency with a hearing on Title IV: Energy Efficiency, which will be included in the committee’s comprehensive energy bill. Learn more HERE.
