E&C Republicans Lead Passage of Bill to Stop Biden’s De Facto EV Mandate

Washington D.C. — Today, the People’s House took action on the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act to stop President Biden’s agenda to force Americans to drive electric vehicles, which will cede our auto future to China. The bill, led by Energy and Commerce Member Tim Walberg (R-MI), passed the house by a bipartisan vote of 221-197.

As Chair Rodgers said, “For more than a century, affordable transportation has helped drive America’s economic success. Our cars have allowed people in the U.S. and around the world to increase their mobility and raise our standard of living. H.R. 4468 ensures we can keep building on this legacy of American leadership and prosperity.”

Rep. Tim Walberg added, “There’s no hiding. The EPA’S proposed rule is an electric vehicle mandate. Not only does this mandate display breathtaking government overreach into the auto industry, it’s also unaffordable, attainable, and unrealistic for America consumers.”  Screenshot 2023-12-06 at 6.02.17 PM.png
