WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and Congressman Bob Latta (OH-05), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, announced a hearing titled Nuclear Permitting Reform: Legislation to Advance Efficient Licensing.
“Nuclear energy is a zero-emission energy source and provides safe, reliable, and affordable power to communities across the United States. However, burdensome regulations and a costly licensing process have made it difficult to expand the use of nuclear power,” said Chairmen Guthrie and Latta. “This legislative hearing will provide our Committee the chance to discuss commonsense steps to help make nuclear licensing more efficient and predictable while supporting the innovation needed to bring advanced reactors online. By building on the ADVANCE Act, we can deliver the reliable power needed to support America's continued energy dominance.”
